I recently stayed at The Langham Hotel in Auckland CBD for my birthday weekend celebrations. I also hosted my family and close friends for my birthday luncheon at the Eight Restaurant within the Langham Hotel premises. Truly amazing and if you haven’t dined at Eight, you are truly missing out. I would add it to my To-Do list in New Zealand.
Why Langham Hotel?
Simple. A hotel full of history, heritage and luxury. I wanted to do something new for my birthday celebrations. I have of course been to events and drinks at The Langham and found the place and service quite exquisite. So, I decided that I would love to experience what it is like to stay there for a night. In 1865, Langham Hotel was crowned Europe’s first “Grand Hotel”. This weekend, I will also be attending a conference at the Langham to which I am really looking forward to!
I was greeted by a friendly concierge team and they ensured that my luggages arrived to my room the same time as I arrived. This almost never happens even at other top hotels which I have stayed at recently! The lovely lady at the reception who checked me in was very friendly and check-in went so smoothly. This definitely adds to my experience. I stayed on the 9th floor with access to the Club Lounge, second highest floor at the hotel, yes I was so spoilt! I felt so so thankful and blessed.
I stayed in the Classic Room with Club Lounge access. This meant I had access to the Executive Club Lounge and the Business Centre. Afternoon tea is served from 2pm until 5pm, I believe. Pre-dinner drinks and canapés are served from 5.30pm onwards; and of course breakfast is also served in the morning from about 6am onwards. The room is a perfect oasis.
The Club Lounge
Feeling very relaxed on a beautiful sunny day, the lovely Langham Hotel team invited me to the Club Lounge on the 10th floor. So, I started my stay at the Langham with some afternoon tea. You were well looked after by an allocated butler. In addition to the available afternoon tea; complimentary drinks, snacks, ice cream and yoghurt are available 24/7 at the Club Lounge. The setting, the timeless interior detail and furniture hints a taste of European luxury and evoke memories of the past in a somewhat modern setting.
Breakfast is served. Having access to the Club Lounge was so helpful and such a neat experience and I don’t think I could ever stay at a hotel without access to such a lounge! It made my stay at the Langham that much more memorable. In the stilness, I was able to work on my emails and to prepare for some upcoming blog posts. Stay tuned.
My friends know how much I love spa treatments! Luxurious spa treatments. As a birthday treat, the Langham Hotel gifted the HydroPeptide Facial to me and it is new on the Chuan Spa menu. I thought I had been to luxurious spas in Auckland, until I stepped foot at Chuan Spa. It took my breath away. Just look at this entrance operated by automatic doors that was waiting to greet you, it felt like a movie scene.
Prior to your treatment, spa guests are invited to partake in the spa ritual. You have access to the outdoor pool and spa, as well as the sauna, steam room, snail shower and of course the amazing ice constantly being made, you apply the ice in between your sauna/steam sessions. Such a unique experience and I will definitely visit again.
After the spa ritual, I waited at the peaceful lounge before being greeted by my therapist. The facial lasted about an hour. I was explained by the therapist that my facial would be hydrating and anti-ageing. I definitely recommend this spa experience because it makes your stay that much more special. The facial went well, I felt that my face was nourished after the facial and a friend even complimented that my skin was looking good.
You then finish your spa treatment off with some fruits, nuts and beverages to replenish.
I will always be honest with my reviews as I have very high expectations especially when it comes to hotels. There were no issues during my stay at the Langham Hotel, none whatsoever. I was very impressed with the Langham Hotel team! One of my guilty pleasures is luxury hotels and I have been blessed to experience a number of hotels globally. It is so important for me that a hotel makes me feel at home, and the Langham Hotel did exactly that and more.
Little touches that made me smile
I loved that following a wake-up call, a cup of hot chocolate was delivered to my room. The night before, the lovely team also delivered fruits to my room, as well as some chocolates coupled by a gorgeous quote. I was also able to request a late checkout at 1pm which was very helpful! The consistent hospitality made me feel very special. Wifi was complimentary which is great, I don’t think it’s right if a luxurious hotel charges more for the wifi connectivity, however that is the case with some hotels! I won’t usually stay at such hotels, just because of that sometimes. So, certain hotels should take note!
During the evening, I was able to enjoy the pool and the spa. The pool is around 27 degrees celsius and the spa is around 32 degrees celsius if I remember correctly, perfect for the Winter/Spring swim…There is also a well-equipped gym facility.
Would I stay again?
Absolutely. I would recommend it to my family, friends and readers. I can now understand the reason why Langham Hotel is one of the top choices for politicians and celebrities to stay at while they are in Auckland. I would love to try the High Tea for my next visit!
Truly unparalleled service. Elegance in design. Genuine service. A captivation of the senses.
Thank you to the Langham Hotel team for making me feel right at home and allowing me to truly experience the luxury of Auckland through your hotel. Until next time…
