As I am travelling overseas most of December, I decided to take a Staycation this month. I was after a place where I could work from (in Auckland), continue my fitness training; yet would still offer a slice of heaven where I am able to relax and unwind. The perfect place to do that is at The Pullman Hotel and I checked into the Executive King Suite.
These last few months of 2016 have been quite turbulent for me and I just needed to find myself again. We all get lost sometimes. So lost that we lose track of who we are, where we’re going, what we want, and how to give ourselves what we need to feel nourished and healthy. At times like these, when I find myself down on my knees, the first thing to go out the window is my motivation to take care of myself. I become unkind to myself. I lose patience with myself and others. And, recently, I lost a few significant things in my life (which shook me to the core) and that’s when I became aware of how repeating this cycle of behaviours wasn’t serving me in any way. In fact, they were keeping me stuck in a negative place and holding me back from healing and moving forward.
I’ve been there enough times to realise that it’s an inevitable part of life, to realise that it’s okay to get lost. So, I decided to press pause.
They say “When you recover or discover something that nourishes your soul and brings joy, care enough about yourself to make room for it in your life.” There’s always a way up and a way out, and it starts from within. As always, I began and ended with a pool session.
These are the memories I collected from my stay at The Pullman and I captured them using my Apple iPhone 7 Plus. I don’t go anywhere without it.
Omni Social Hour
What I especially love about this experience at the Pullman Hotel is that the staff are knowledgeable, they are kind and helpful and they know exactly who you are and what you’ve been booked in for. It made my life much easier as I didn’t need to explain what I’m doing or what I’m after. Such is icing on the cake.
After my Spa session, I enjoyed several drinks at the bar to which I’m advised it’s called Omni Social Hour. We were personally greeted by the wonderful Head Chef Yannick Cayrol who prepared a beautiful hand-picked platter of canapés for us. We sipped on Moet Ice (LOVE), Kiwi Lychee Magic and Virgin Mojito mocktails.
Healthy Body. Healthy Mind.
Pullman Hotel’s focus is that wellbeing should be accessible to everybody, no matter where you are, which time zone you’re in, how your schedule reads, or what your personal health regime is. And that’s where Pullman fit comes in. It helps you stay on-track, and travelling doesn’t have to disrupt your daily routine.
This includes a Pullman fit kit, running trails by Pullman, 2-step active wellbeing program by Pullman + Art Green and Urban Yoga.
As a result, during the stay, my fitness and well-being needs were well taken care of.
Spa at The Pullman
Spa at The Pullman is renowned for its facials and at this stay, I got a Sodashi Samadara Illuminating Age-Defying Facial with therapist Ye’ela who did an amazing job.
Ye’ela utilised the Rose Quartz as part of the treatment. With its gentle pink essence, it is a stone of the heart, a Crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It speaks directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others.
I needed the treatment desperately as I felt tired and worn out initially, and I left the Spa feeling rejuvenated and ready to do life again.
Executive King Suite
There were beautiful slices of cake waiting for us upon arriving at our suite, enough said. We devoured them within minutes. They tasted as good as they looked! We also ordered Room Service upon arrival and I highly recommend Thai Curry Beef Cheeks! I found the suite quite spacious, definitely suitable if you are on a business trip yet you prefer to have a room with a bit more space. I did find the bathroom a bit small, however that’s not much of an issue, as I tend to utilise the fitness centre’s bathrooms. The King bed was super comfortable and I had the best sleep ever after a splendid afternoon and evening!
Dinner at Tapestry
Dining at Tapestry was another highlight. My favorite part? Desserts.
Pullman also understands the significance of having a nutritious breakfast. The Healthy Breakfast Menu is available to order and what’s lovely is that you don’t even need to leave your room for it.
If you prefer to opt for the breakfast buffet option, there is also a special section where the Executive Chef has designed an Active Breakfast Corner with 4 targeted breakfast options. You are spoilt for choice as it ranges from balanced with sustain protein, detox to cleanse and purify, age defense filled with nutritious oils and antioxidants and a complex energy breakfast to get you through the day.
Thank you so much to the team at Pullman Hotel for making this stay super special. Do you go on Staycations? Where do you prefer to stay? Let us know other amazing places to check out for our future Staycations. Follow our adventures on Instagram: PinkandSparklesNZ.
