Face Me is a freelance team of make up artists and hair stylists who have released their own range of signature make up products. I was lucky enough to try Face Me’s Super Gloss in Super Candy (third to the left in the photo).
This candy floss coloured lip gloss smells super yummy. The thing I love most about this gloss is that it not sticky yet delivers incredible shine. The only thing I disliked was the shimmer as I do not like glittery lip products, however this is purely a personal preference. While this gloss is beautifully pink in the tube, it’s payoff is more of a sheer gloss and would look lovely over the lip liner shade of your choice.
Super Gloss comes in a range of shades including nudes, pale pinks, dark pinks and clear so there’s definitely something to suit everyone. At $20 a pop, Super Gloss is an affordable go-to-lipgloss for your handbag ready at a moments notice!
Dermalogica’s Daily Resurfacer is a daily use, leave on, exfoliating treatment. Each Daily Resurfacer pad is individually packaged in a pouch and filled with all the good stuff: Alpha and Beta Hydroxy acids to renew and smooth skin, Japanese Unshiu Citrus and Rice Extract to brighten and Hyaluronic Acid, Eelgrass and Aspalathus Linearis and Green tea to soothe. I was sent four days worth of treatment to try.
The great thing about individual packaging is that there is no chance of the pads drying out. Each pad is like a little finger puppet, slip it over your middle finger and swipe all over your face and neck in a circular motion. Make sure you use both sides for maximum effectiveness. The specialized applicator allows you to work over areas that need more attention.
The Daily Resurfacer packs a punch because it is both a physical and chemical exfoliant. Physical exfoliants, such as traditional scrubs, buff away dead skin cells on the surface. Chemical exfoliants penetrate the skin and chemically dissolve the bonds holding skin cells together, allowing the older, dead cells to be washed away. While you can use this product anytime, I prefer to use it at night after toning and underneath a serum. It makes my skin feel super clean and rejuvenated.
Ella Bache’s new Detox Aromatique range targets modern skin concerns caused by comedones, hormonal adult acne, sensitivity and other things from the environment by detoxifying and purifying the skin. The range includes three products: an Extra-Mattifying Cream, Extra-Purifying Corrector Serum and Extra-Purifying Concealer/Drying Corrector. The key ingredients in this line include grape seed extract, puressence and purifying zinc.
I was sent sachet samples of all three products to try and I really enjoyed them. All three products have a string of floral scent which is luxurious and relaxing. The serum is of a watery gel consistency (which I like) and is easily absorbed. The mattifying cream is a cream gel which is light yet hydrating, probably more ideal for summer. Both of these products were highly suitable for my combination oily skin which makes me believe these products would be good for girls in their late teens to mid twenties as well.
The concealer/drying corrected is a dual purpose tinted blemish treatment which provides coverage while targeting spots. This is a pretty cool product for those days when you want some colour on your face but don’t want to aggravate any blemishes. Of all three products, I would be most likely to purchase the serum. I’m a serum junkie and I loved the light gel consistency which would be great in the morning under make up.
“The elliptical shape of the FLAWLESS Beauty Sponge makes make up application fool proof by allowing you to access those Hard-to-reach spots like around the nose, mouth, and under the eyes. The suede texture is soft on the skin & to touch, and its unique curves fit the contours of your face, leaving your make up FLAWLESS!”
I was initially very skeptical of this egg shaped sponge because I usually swear by a foundation brush to apply my BB cream and liquid foundation. I had been taught that sponges eat your product and therefore are wasteful. The Flawless beauty sponge however is quite dense and I found that the product mostly sits in the surface of the sponge.
The egg shape is handy for areas of the nose without the streakiness that can sometimes happen when using a brush. One thing I was concerned about was that because the sponge is quite firm, it’s not the greatest tool for building coverage.
I will probably continue to use this sponge for those curved areas of my nose, especially when applying concealer to hide redness. If you haven’t found a staple foundation application tool, this beauty sponge by New Zealand brand Flawless could be worth a try, especially at only $14.99 a pop.
Ulta3 Pressed Powder claims to be a lightweight silky pressed powder to keep makeup looking fresh all day. The pressed powder compliments liquid foundation and should be applied with a fluffy powder brush to set makeup for the day.
Ulta3 is an Australian based low priced beauty range and this pressed powder retails for around AUD$6. I tried this powder in “creme beige” which I believe would suit most medium skintones especially as it is quite sheer. The product is light and I can buff it on with a brush as a translucent powder. I have a pressed powder that delivers heavier coverage that I prefer to use in the morning, however I’m going to keep this powder in my handbag or in the office for those mid afternoon shiny spots.
For Ulta3’s particular price point, this pressed powder comes nicely packaged and delivers a satisfactory finish.
