M•A•C COSMETICS SENIOR ARTIST, AMBER D SHARES
TIPS & TECHNIQUES ON GETTING LORDE’S LOOK
Recently, I was lucky enough to attend the launch of #MacLorde collection at Mildred & Co Showroom where M.A.C Senior Artist Amber D shared the products and techniques she uses to create Lorde’s look. She recently returned from an eight month tour with Grammy award-winning artist Lorde.
It was my first M.A.C cosmetics event (hence, I was very excited!), thank you Katie and the rest of M.A.C cosmetics team for having me there! It was also my first time meeting Amber D. I have heard a lot about her so it was indeed a pleasure to meet her and have a quick chat with her. I love her enthusiasm and the passion she has for her work. Her first words to me were ‘I heard you are a huge M.A.C fan’. I was thinking ‘OMG, she already knows, it’s a bit embarrassing, but hey, yes I am!’ I asked her how she became Lorde’s ‘in-house’ makeup artist and she told me they had met prior at a photo shoot and the chemistry between them was just right. Since then, Amber said she convinced Ella (Lorde) that she wouldn’t be able to live without her, or Amber’s amazing makeup skills, at least!
The night was fun, a great atmosphere alongside New Zealand beauty and fashion media. We were all hanging on to Amber’s words of makeup wisdom as she conjured up her magical makeup skills. Amber detailed the looks she created for Lorde for events such as the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards, Billboard Music Awards 2014 and Brit Awards 2014.
Pure Heroine Lipstick is part of the two piece M.A.C Lorde collection, a limited edition and it has Amplified formula which is intense, smooth and long-lasting (I love that in lipsticks!)
Prior to this, I bought the M.A.C Heroine lipstick & I love it; the old me would probably not have worn such colors but this is me now. I love playing with colors a lot more and definitely have adopted a more daring approach these days. We were gifted this gorgeous Pure Heroine lipstick (thank you!!) and don’t be fooled by the color. It is so wearable (which I just love!) and I have even worn it during the day time to the office. I have seen blondies wearing this shade, they suit it, and if you have darker hair, you definitely will suit it too.
It’s a dark, moody plum and it appears brighter on the lips than its appearance. I thought initially that it would be closer to a goth-like dark lip look but that was not the case at all (sigh of relief). It’s winter here in New Zealand and a definite must have in your lipstick collection. It suits the mood, it’s bold & it’s sexy with an attitude. I will definitely be wearing it a lot; day & night, it’s traveling everywhere with me currently.
Penultimate Eye Liner in Rapidblack is a re-promote available now in the M.A.C permanent line and it doesn’t transfer or smudge. However, the focus in this collection (for me personally) is on the lipstick of course. Get yours, you wouldn’t want to miss out! A must have lipstick this season.
A lovely event which I thoroughly enjoyed & I look forward to future M.A.C events.
Event photos were taken by me.
