The Revolutionary New Gel Manicure System Without The Light

Think: The fusion of color and science

Miracle Gel nail colour is the new two-step at-home gel manicure system by Sally Hansen! No need for curing lamps or salon visits, Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel claims to provide 14 days of colour and shine with easy removal. As an in-salon gel manicure lover who is often inhibited by the cost of “getting your nails did” (yup, read that in a sassy voice!), I was very excited about Sally Hansen’s big promises. I was also ready to put those promises to the test!

I truly believe that gel manicures are a revolution- there is no dry time and nails look perfect for up to two weeks (but in reality, more like 1.5 weeks- for me anyway).  When I do my nails at home with ordinary polish, I am usually lucky to get two days out of a manicure. I work in a professional services firm so aside from typing, the occasionally page flick and doing the dinner dishes, so my nails generally have it good.

The Miracle Gel system consists of a base colour and top coat duo. I tried Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in “pinky rings” which is a bright Barbie pink. It looks like a very warm pink indoors, but appears slightly darker and brighter under the sun. From the photos you can see the slight colour difference in different lighting. I applied two costs of the pink polish and three coats of the top coat.

My first impression was that I loved the wide brush. A slightly wider brush seems to make for better application, as it reduces streaks and seems to apply more evenly. Drying time was reasonable too. My manicure lasted five days without chips before I had to remove it, which I think is unbelievable for an at-home product. I think that it was the additional tops coats that I applied which did the trick. My next experiment will be trying the Miracle Gel top coat over non-gel colours to see whether the beauty of the product really does lie in the top coat.

Overall I was very impressed with the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel system and look forward to picking up other colours from the range.  This product is one to try if you just don’t have time to be fixing up chipped nails every second day!
