To celebrate the New Zealand launch of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, Spark is partnering with street style bloggers FOUREYES to curate collections of mobile accessories and other lifestyle items inspired by the colours of the phones.
Since its unveiling at Mobile World Congress earlier this year, Samsung’s new flagship device, with its sleek aluminium and glass design, has been working the global fashion circuit.
The device was previewed in a special show at Paris Fashion Week and Samsung has released a collection of designer Galaxy S6 accessory collaborations in New York with the likes of Montblanc, Swarovski and Kate Spade.
Spark is continuing this fashion focus through its collaboration with FOUREYES that’s seen the Auckland-based bloggers curate three ‘lifestyle grids’ – in black, white and gold – that match the colours of the S6 and reflect the mobile phones’ status as the must-have fashion piece of the season.
Prolific on Instagram, Pinterest and in print editorial, flat-lay grid shots are birds-eye-view photos of clothes, accessories and any other items making up an individual’s outfit or day.
Foureyes’ Alex Blanco says technology is increasingly featured in such shots, as people’s mobile phones are “the one thing that’s always on them, and always visible. “As bloggers, our phones pretty much run our business, and we want them – and the things we accessorise them with – to match the look and feel of our outfit. “We love the concept of the S6 being a wardrobe staple, and curating a style and lifestyle around it.”
Mino Kim says a phone, like a signature fragrance or statement necklace, is becoming a defining feature of the way people present themselves.
“When we’re photograping someone whose style we like, we often take candid shots of them with phone in hand, because that’s them in their most natural state”, Kim says. “The phone is as much part of their overall look as anything they’re wearing.” A selection of items in Foureyes accessory grids can be won by Spark customers via a Snapchat ‘treasure hunt’ to be held over 8-9 April. Spark will also be giving away five Galaxy S6s on launch day via a competition run on the hashtag #UnlockTheNewSwag.
Spark is also offering its customers an exclusive preview of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge at selected Spark stores, as Samsung fans begin counting down to the smartphone’s much-anticipated launch on Saturday 11 April.
Thirteen Spark stores around the country have the phones on display, allowing customers to experiment with the S6 edge’s curved display, the high-res camera that opens in 0.7 seconds – and to hold the aluminium and glass body in their hands.
Spark is now taking pre-orders, and to celebrate the first 200 Spark customers to pre-order online receive a gift pack of two accessories designed to complement the features and style of the phone – the S6 Clear View Case and the Kenu Stance Tripod, an RRP of over $100.
Spark GM of Home, Mobile and Business Jason Paris says: “Since the S6 was revealed last month there’s been a huge amount of hype, with near-universal praise in online reviews.
“Features like the outstanding camera and super-fast processor are a given, but we think the curved display and sleek new design are equally important for our customers.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will be available for preview in the following Spark stores: Botany, Lynmall, Albany, Sylvia Park, Manukau, Queen Street, St Lukes, Northlands, Riccarton, Centreplace Mall, Palmerston North, Bayfair, Lambton Quay, Queensgate, Dunedin.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 edge come in 32GB and 64GB models. They will be available from 9am on Saturday 11 April, for only $46 per month on the $59 Ultra Mobile Open Term interest free plan, $0 upfront on the $139 Ultra Mobile 24 month plan, or starting at $1099 RRP for the 32GB model S6 or $1349 RRP for the S6 edge.
