Food Shows are a highlight ever year. I went to the Auckland Food Show last year and I enjoyed it. Wellington also gets their own Food Show! This year (9-11 May) just in time for Mother’s Day; it was held at the Westpac Stadium and exploded into culinary high gear.
The Food Show contains arguably New Zealand’s greatest selection of food, drink and kitchen equipment to sample and take home – that is always a reason enough to visit! Here are some highlights from the Wellington Food Show:
(1) Whirlpool ‘Cooking Theatre’ – world-class cooking demos featuring Chelsea Winter, Nadia Lim and Peta Mathias.
(2) Kenwood ‘New Generation Game’
(3) Good Magazine ‘Healthy Living Zone’
(4) Genesis Energy ‘Cooking with gas’ feature
(5) New products & Exhibitors
(6) NewLarge range of liquid refreshments
(7) Groovy kitchen gadgets
This year, we sent two Biggie.co.nz readers to check out the Wellington Food Show as part of Mother’s Day celebrations. Here are Emily’s thoughts:
“We had a lovely time. We went on Sunday, and it was a lot quieter than we expected. We were thinking it would be really busy, but we managed to wander round twice without much difficulty with crowds of people. There were loads of free tasters and new products that we got to try. There was a selection of shows at the whirlpool cooking theatre. There were great deals up for grabs – I signed up for a magazine subscription for only $30 bucks for a year and it came with a bag of goodie as a “spin to win” extras. I needed two hands to carry it all! We got to taste an amazing sweet treat – A chimney cake – rolled in cinnamon and chocolate painted in the middle – divine! We both enjoyed the time and Elisa loved having some “me time” on Mother’s Day.”
